The company was founded by Paul E. Johnson, who has founded several multimillion-dollar companies and owns or controls large real estate holdings. Mr. Johnson was elected and served two terms as Mayor of the City of Phoenix from 1990-1994, and is currently an active board member of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, as well as several regional planning committees. These positions have given him special understanding of the real estate regulatory, development and entitlement process. The management team collectively has over one hundred (100) years of real estate investment, development and finance experience, and a proven track record.

Paul E. Johnson Mr. Johnson is the President and CEO of Southwest Next Capital Management. Mr. Johnson has founded several multimillion-dollar companies, has vast real-estate holdings in his control, and also has a distinguished career in politics having served as a 2-term Mayor of the City of Phoenix from 1990-1994, then the 10th largest city in America. In 1998, Mr. Johnson was the Democratic Party Gubernatorial candidate. Currently, Mr. Johnson is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Old World Communities, LLC; Berkana Townhomes, LLC, (a privately held residential infill townhome development company) and is the managing member of several real estate related development companies. Mr. Johnson graduated from Arizona State University and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

Joseph E. Meyer
Mr. Meyer is a Managing Partner of Southwest Next Capital Management responsible for real estate acquisitions and management. Mr. Meyer is a twenty (20) year veteran in the real estate industry with a solid track record as one the regions most successful multifamily developers where he has directed the development of over 7,500 multi-family residential units. Currently Mr. Meyer is President and CEO of JE Meyer Investments, Inc., an Arizona based real estate development and investment company. Previously, Mr. Meyer was a Principal in Gray Development Group (GDG), where he played a leading role in facilitating that company’s growth into Arizona’s largest multifamily housing developer while directing the development of more than 14 projects valued at nearly $600 million. Mr. Meyer graduated from the University of Illinois with a BA in Architecture.
James A. Mullany Mr. Mullany is Senior Vice President of Southwest Next Capital Management, and is responsible for portfolio management. Mr. Mullany is a co-founder of Berkana Homes, a multifaceted real estate development company specializing in high-density multifamily residential communities where he is responsible for managing and developing relationships with the company’s institutional and private investors. Prior to the founding of Berkana Homes, Mr. Mullany served 7-years as a Portfolio Manager with Northern Trust Bank where he managed trust and private investment portfolios for high net worth individuals. Mr. Mullany began his career working with the Phoenix City Council and has served on several local and national political campaigns. Mr. Mullany currently serves on the City of Phoenix Deferred Compensation Board. Mr. Mullany holds a degree from Grand Canyon University.
